Register for Making Change: a six week class on personal finance beginning Thursday, April 24
It's tax time, and we tend to think about how things could be different. Do you feel like you've got all the tools you really need to take control of your financial life?
You're not alone. 80% of adults in a recent survey said they'd benefit from advice, and many wouldn't give themselves a passing grade if life were a personal finance class.
Making Change is designed to give you those tools. In this 6 week course, you'll learn how to make informed financial decisions, resolve debt issues, and plan for the future. To enable your participation, free on-site child-care and transportation assistance are available on request.
Classes are based on the Dollar Works curriculum and are led by Khurram Imam, Financial and Homeownership Education Program Instructor with the Greening Michigan Institute at Michigan State University Extension.
After graduation from Making Change, you will be eligible to attend a special Home Ownership class. Completion of this class will give you access to special help in obtaining a mortgage based on more than just your credit score. Ask for more information.
Making Change meets on Thursdays starting on April 24th. One class will be held at Niles Salvation Army from 11:30am-2pm, or you can choose to come to Niles District Library from 5:30-8pm. Registration is required. A free meal will be shared at each class. Punctuality and regular attendance are expected, please.
You already know the library can connect you to resources that inform, entertain and enrich. Financial information is no different. But sometimes you need more than books and videos; you need a set of tools and guidance to make the changes you want to see in your life. This program is made possible by a grant from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation through Smart investing@your library®, a partnership with the American Library Association.
