Once Upon A River: A Children's History of Niles is the first book on the history of Niles, Michigan to be aimed toward children readers. The book is a joint project of the Niles District Library and the Fort Saint Joseph Museum. Funding for the project was originally provided by the Michigan Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Below we have made available for viewing the entire book. Due to copyright issues, all chapters are in PDF non-printable format. Following the book is the Teaching Guide. At the bottom of the page are printable puzzles that go along with the book.
