Computer Classes

These classes are free but registration is required. Please register in the Computer Lab or by phone, 269-683-8545 x119. AM classes are 9:00am to 11:00am; PM classes are 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

BASIC COMPUTING CLASS   

In this class you will cover the bare basics of computers. This includes the parts of the computers and their functions, hardware and software, working the mouse, the keyboard, the desktop, icons, and starting and ending programs.

INTRO TO THE INTERNET

In this class you will learn how to use the internet. You will be browsing the internet using various browsers, searching with search engines, using web addresses and links, printing, and using the navigational tool bar.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY I

In this class you will learn the basics of digital photography. You will learn how to choose which camera is right for you. You will learn camera features, modes, memory, and zoom, digital vocabulary, and downloading. You will also have hands on practice with our cameras.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY II

In this class you will be learning photo editing techniques using the photos you took in the Digital Photography I. You will be editing, cropping, and improving your photos, learning basic digital editing software, storing images, and shown examples of what you can do with digital pictures.

INTRO TO MS WORD

This class is an overview of the word processing program Microsoft Word 2010. You will be working with selecting text, moving text, columns, basic tables, dictionary and thesaurus, Word Art and clipart, and basic formatting.

INTRO TO MS POWERPOINT

This class is an overview of the slide presentation program Power Point. You will be working creating simple slide presentations. This includes enhancing and formatting text, Word Art and clipart, adding notes, special effects, printing, and customizing your presentations.

INTRO TO MS EXCEL

This class is an overview of the spreadsheet program Excel. In this class you will create a simple spreadsheet. You will also be formatting spreadsheets, rows, columns and cells. Learning basic formulas and functions, and creating and modifying charts, and printing worksheets.

INTRO TO MS PUBLISHER

This class is an overview of the program Publisher, which allows you to create printable projects. Greeting cards, business cards, signs and brochures are a few examples of what you can do with this program. Publisher offers pre-set formats or you can add your own personal pictures and text to many of their projects.
