Board Members

Niles District Library is governed by an eight member Board of Directors.  Four Board members are appointed by the Niles City Council and four are appointed by the Niles Township Board.  Members serve four year terms.  The library Director reports to the Board of Directors.  You may write to the Board in care of library at 620 E Main, Niles, MI 49120.  You may read the Niles District Library Bylaws by clicking here.

Board Meetings

Board meetings are regularly scheduled for 4:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month and are held at the library in the community room.  All Board meetings are open to the public.

Budget

The library's primary means of support is a 1.5 mil property tax which was approved by voters in August of 2002. The library's fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 30. In early August of each year the Board holds a public hearing to receive input on the budget which is usually approved by the Board at the August meeting.
